Lorna & Claire's Crispy Honey Garlic Wings

Ingredients
Prep time - 15 Mins
Cook time - 15 Mins
2 tbsp Olive Oil
4 Cloves Garlic (minced)
1 cup Honey
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1 tsp Black Pepper
2 cup Flour (Plain)
3-6 tbsp Powdered Ginger (to taste)
1 tbsp Cayenne Pepper (more or less to taste)
1.5 tbsp Salt
140g Chicken Wings
2 Eggs
3 tbsp Cold Water
Canola / Peanut / Soy Oil
Directions
- Heat Oil and Garlic in a saucepan over medium heat and sauté to soften the garlic, but don't let it brown
- Add the Honey, Soy Sauce and 1 tsp Black Pepper
- Simmer together for 5-10 minutes, remove from heat and allow to cool thoroughly.
Watch this carefully as it simmers because it can foam up easily - Pre-heat an oven to 175C / 350F
- Mix together the Flour, Ginger, Cayenne Pepper, Salt and 1 tbsp Black Pepper
- Whisk together the Eggs and Water
- Wash the wing pieces and pat them dry. Trim the tips and cut them into sections
- Dip the wing pieces into the Egg mix and then toss in the Flour.
- Melt some butter in a large oven dish in the oven and roll the wings in it before leaving them in.
- Fry until Golden Brown (roughly 30-35 mins) depending on the size of the wing pieces. then put under a grill for 5-10 mins to crisp them up
- While still hot out of the oil, toss the wing pieces in a parge bowl with some of the Honey and Garlic Sauce
- Serve Immediately
