Ingredients
- 4 oz Soft Butter
- 5 oz Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 6 oz Self-Raising Flour
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Essence
- 2 tbsp Milk (if adding colours to mix later, only use 1 tbsp)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 160 degrees fan or Gas Mark 5
- Slice butter into small cubes and blend with sugar at medium speed, until creamy
- Add eggs one at a time, sprinkling with a little of the flour, and beating into mix at high speed after each one
- Add remaining sieved flour, milk and vanilla. Blend gently using spoon until smooth and creamy
- If adding colours, divide now into separate bowls. Use only 1 tbsp combined colour over all dishes to equal the milk not added
- Spoon mix into chosen holders and place in oven
- Cook large buns for 20-25 mins, small buns for 15 mins
- Test if cooked by poking skewer through bun. If clean on removal, buns are cooked. If it has mix on it, leave to cook for a further 5 mins and test again.
- When fully cooked, remove from oven and tray and leave to cool.
**For icing; Blend 150g Butter, 350g Icing Sugar, 1/2 tsp Vanilla Essence and 1 tbsp Milk in mixer until creamy and spread thickly on buns.
